Around the corner...

Yes! Here it is. Halloween is just around the corner! Or another name for it, Samhain. Samhain is an annual Celtic celebration also known as the "festival of the dead". It is a celebration to celebrate the circle of life, celebrate the elements of life and death, celebrate the beginning and ending of a year. It is believed that the border between this world and the other world become thin on Samhain.

For this years Halloween celebration, I initially planned to go crazy! Dress up as a sexy vampire and go club hopping! First club Zouk KL then a few clubs next. Already had a group of friends willing to go crazy with me and enjoy the night of Halloween. But after a week of consideration, I suddenly felt like I do not want to go through the trouble. Maybe it's because I've been having fever these few days so it made me feel old and lazy. Instead, I remember that my little sister's birthday was coming and she's always wanted a costume party. So currently, Leo and I are planning a Halloween birthday for my little sis!! All her friends will be dressed up in cute little costumes and we'll be decorating the house. We want to make it as scary as possible for Shenz and her friends Ahhh... for all the time, money and trouble we go through for her party, I hope she enjoys it. Plus, one of her best friends are baking a special secret Halloween birthday cake for her. Hmmm... I wonder what it'll be?

Au Pair

Yes, I have done it! I signed up with a program which makes me an Au Pair. What is an Au Pair you ask? An Au Pair is defined as a foreign-national domestic assistant working for, and living as part of, a host family. Typically, Au Pairs take on a share of the family's responsibility for childcare as well as some housework, and receive a small monetary allowance for personal use. This is what they call work and travel. When you register, they ask you a load of questions about childcare. I thought it was suitable for me, as I absolutely love children at the age of 1 to 5 years old and I love to travel. Working as an Au Pair allows me to travel, take children under my care AND earn money! I registered USA, UK, Italy, France, and Japan as my preferred country to work in. They allow you to choose the age of the children you would like to care for and for how long you will be in service to the family. I chose from 2 months to 9 months. Being an Au Pair, the family that hosts you does not treat you like a servant or maid. Instead they treat you like apart of their family. Just that you have to take care of their child.

I just register 2 nights ago and I have already received offers from families which live in Los Angeles, Miami, New York, and Orlando. And that's just from the USA. I have received offers from UK and Italy as well. This is actually going really smoothly as I planned. I'm extremely excited to live with a family in a foreign country. It will expand my knowledge of lifestyles and cultures. The only problem for me is that I'll have to leave my Leo here for a huge amount of time. I'll miss him like crazy. He'll be in my mind all day, everyday. Not just him. I'll miss my family too!! Especially my adorable little sister, Shenz. She makes me smile every single day. One day without her would be torture. Well, I'll just have to make sacrifices to grab onto opportunities. There will never be success without sacrifice. I'm just worried about my future with Leo. I wonder what would happen. I guess we'll see how everything goes. See how fate brings me into the future and how strong our relationship is. I can see a very bright future for Leo and I, but I'm still afraid. I mean... who isn't?!?!

Back to Au Pair families. When Au Pairs stay and care for a family, the family gives the Au Pair an allowance. So far, I've been offered around 1,500 sterling pounds a month. That's like RM7,200 a month!! Doing what I love and getting an allowance as a bonus. I know from the start I would love this job. Getting paid for doing what you love, now THAT'S what I call a job. At least, I would wake up everyday and start work with a huge smile on my face.

Au Pair's are usually aged between 18 and 25 years old. So if you're interested, visit: Easy Au Pair at http://www.easyaupair.com/

Workout in disguise

Tonight we had it all planned. Leo and I were going out for a nice, peaceful and casual dinner. Had a great time eating. We chatted a whole lot mostly, asking each other about their day and wondering how was work. As our table was facing this huge flat screen TV mounted on the restaurant's wall, most of the time we were watching this program called "Riot Chase" or something like that. So while we ate, we watched numerous videos of people starting riots all over the world. Some of it were pretty violent and so not right for dinner time. I do not want to see a woman in a female jail get beaten up by 50 other women when I'm eating. Would you call that appetizing?

So anyway, after the extremely peaceful dinner, we made our way back. Just around 500 more meters to Leo's house, his car broke down. We tried to figure what happened as the car suddenly over heated and we couldn't start it. So I thought, "Hey! It's so near your place. Let's push!". So we started pushing with high spirits and with me controlling the wheel. After half of our journey, we collapsed. Two people with no constant exercise pushing a Honda 500 meters. Now it seemed pretty ridiculous. So in the end, a black car stopped and a malay guy got out of the car and helped us push. His wife and little daughter in the car were giving us encouragement. We did it! All 500 meters of it. I think it was a workout in disguise or maybe just someone, somewhere hinting that we have to work out more. It seems that the family that helped us were staying very near by and were on the way home when they saw us in trouble.

**For now, note to self: remember to buy gift basket for family who helped us push car!!

Thank you helpful citizens of Malaysia. Now looking back, an extremely ray of hope for the possibility of 1Malaysia!

A peek of happiness

Haven't been home for awhile as I've been crazy with work. When I got home a few days ago, I saw this innocent brown envelope with the plastic-covered Pos Laju thingy on it. Like a natural online shopper, I went crazy. Remember the blog shop I mentioned in my past post? The one about MiniBites? Well my item has arrived. I opened the package with care and I was faced with more wrappers. Until I reached bubble wrap! Beneath it was the most adorable thing I have ever seen in my life! As you know, I absolutely love miniature food items. A week ago I ordered a Chocolate Pie Ring. I wore it to Leo's cousin's birthday and I got a huge response. I was the belle of the ball. Everyone was trying to get a glimpse of that pie on my ring. Naturally I embraced being in the spot light.

The genius behind all the handmade crafts is a girl named Esther. We're planning to meet up to get to know each other better. I've been dying to meet her. By the way, she updated her blog shop with a whole new product. Adorable heart-shaped waffle ear studs! There are 3 types which are:-

~Strawberry Yoghurt Waffle Studs, which are heart-shaped waffles covered in vanilla yoghurt and topped with a slice of strawberry.

~Berry Smoothie Waffle Studs, which are heart-shaped waffles covered in vanilla yoghurt and topped with a cherry and 3 blueberries.

~Maple Story Waffle Studs, which are heart-shaped waffles covered in the basic maple syrup and topped with a pat of butter.

These waffles are the most adorable items and they look good enough to eat! So I made a custom order of a waffles ring. My waffles ring would be a basic square waffle covered in maple syrup and topped with a pat of butter and 2 slices of strawberry. Now that I can't wait to get. I'd be hungry all day looking at the rings on my fingers *giggles* When I got my Chocolate Pie ring, I took a few photos to send to her to show my appreciation for her hard work and creativity. So here are the pictures of me and the delectable ring!
